Oxalic acid is an organic compound, and its chemical formula is H2C2O4. The strong organic acid is a colorless solid crystal that dissolves in water to produce a colorless solution. It is classified as a dicarboxylic acid. In terms of strength, it is an acid about 3000 times stronger than acetic acid. It is found with harmless amounts in many plants in the acid form.
