The volatile hydrocarbon then evaporates leaving the oil behind the propellant (originally it is a low molecular weight hydrocarbon, now it is carbon dioxide) that creates pressure in the can to push the liquid through the can mouth before evaporating. The product is also sold in bulk in liquid form to manufacturers.
