Aluminum Oxide
Because of its hardness, alpha aluminum oxide is used in metal grinding equipment. It is also used to manufacture hard disks for grinding and cutting metals, and it reacts with slant resin at 180°C.
The compound is also used in the manufacture of laboratory equipment designed to withstand high temperatures.

Description
Beta aluminum oxide is formed by heating aluminum hydroxide to about 400°C to obtain a fine white, moisture-loving powder that dissolves in acids and alkalis. By heating above 950°C, aluminum oxide transforms into alpha mode.
Aluminum oxide has a high adsorption capacity, so it is used in chromatography, in drying processes and in decolorizing solutions.
