These bottles are free from alkaline oxides and contain 15-25% Al2O3, 52-60% SiO2 and about 15% alkaline earth. Very high transition temperatures and softening points are typical properties. The main uses of it are in glass halogen lamps, high temperature thermostats and thermally and electrically loadable film resistors.

Sub-acute feeding studies of imported food containing magnesium and aluminum silicate 10% for 90 days on animals (rats and dogs) gave negative results after autopsy and examinations for various diseases.
