Defoamer
Defoamer Uses:
1. To prevent volatilization of the active substance during the manufacture of antacid and hypertrophic drugs.
2. Reducing foam formation during some pharmaceutical preparations such as fermentation, soaking, filtering and mixing.
3. To increase the efficiency of filling vials and ampoules sometimes affected by the foam formation.
Defoamer is a low volatility silicone compound designed to reduce foam formation during the manufacture of medical and pharmaceutical preparations that require inhibition of foam formation. It consists of a mixture of dimethyl polysiloxane and silicon dioxide. Defoamer M is formulated to reduce the volatilization of low-molecular-weight compounds containing silicon when manufacturing some drugs at high temperatures, and this property is especially useful when manufacturing antacid tablets or anti-flatulence drugs helping reduce the loss of the active substance during manufacturing.
